The FBI says Rebecca and Terry Solomon conned people out of millions of dollars.
The FBI says the couple got people's money by pretenting to have affluent and important connections. They claimed they were able to buy rare diamonds and sell them at a huge profit and take part in high yield investment ventures.
The FBI says what they did was take the money and eventually run.
Rebecca and Terry Solomon used a Tiburon mansion to convince people of their wealth and investment savvy.
The FBI says between 2004 and 2006 the couple smoothly conned numerous investors out of $18 million dollars to support their lavish lifestyle.
The FBI found the Solomons' in the Philippines and the deportation process has now begun.
"They are in transit between Guam and here," said FBI special agent Joseph Schadler.
We first told you about the Solomons' last year when Nancy Bocian shared how she lost her life savings of $400,000.
Like many, Terry and Rebecca Solomon had promised her a 20-percent return on her money in 60 days.
"I get up and go to work every day just like everyone else and then things will come and for this to happen is devastating," said fraud victim Nancy Bocian in 2006.
The 43-count indictment against the couple includes fraud, conspiracy and money laundering. It lists 20 wire transfers ranging from $25,000 dollars to $1.65 million.
Money the FBI says went into the Solomons' bank accounts in Corte Madera and San Francisco.
Even as the two were being held at an immigration holding facility in the Philippines, the scams apparently continued.
We spoke by phone today with one man in Manila who says he was ready to give Rebecca a large amount of money until he did some research on the Internet.
"I even came across your report in ABC. And when I saw the DOJ, US dept. of Justice indictment, oh my goodness," said the man.
Another Bay Area woman says the couple took her for $120,000 dollars. She says she's not sure she'll ever see her money but she is hoping for justice.
"We're very happy, very happy. The FBI did a good job and we're very happy about it," said the woman.
An attorney in Sausalito who at one time represented the Terry and Rebecca Solomon did not return my calls today. The FBI says there are a number of hearings before any court date is settled upon. A lot of people are very happy the process is moving forward.
