Delays for arriving and departing flights at San Francisco International Airport are expected to persist through midnight due to strong winds and expected heavy rain, an airport duty manager said.

As of about 2:30 p.m., arriving flights were experiencing average delays of one to three hours and departing flights were averaging one to two hour delays, said Dan D'Innocenti, an airport duty manager.

D'Innocenti cautioned that travelers should still arrive at the airport on time and check flight times with their airlines.
