Officers responded at about 8:30 p.m. to the 200 block of Azalia Drive following reports of gunshots in the area, police reported.
Arriving officers discovered East Palo Alto resident Lawrence Edward Daniels III suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his lower extremities, according to the Police Department.
Daniels was transported to a local hospital for surgery and listed in serious condition, police reported.
A preliminary investigation into the shooting revealed that the victim had been standing in the 200 block of Azalia Drive when an unknown number of suspects fired multiple shots at him, police reported.
