Weekend cars banned on JFK Drive

SAN FRANCISCO

Starting on April 5, 2008, cars will be banned on JFK Drive between the tea garden and the De Young Museum on Saturdays.

It's part of an initiative called "Healthy Saturdays," designed to give more space to joggers, walkers and cyclists.

A longer stretch of JFK Drive is already off-limits on Sundays year-round.

The "Healthy Saturdays" car-free zone takes effect every year from April to September.
