SF police chase ends in crash at park

SAN FRANCISCO

Police say this chase lasted all but 12 blocks before it ended inside /*Golden Gate Park*/. It began just before 4:00 a.m. when neighbors reported a car break in at 7th and Hugo. That is when an off duty police officer spotted the vehicle later on at 7th and Lincoln - then the pursuit started. It ended when the suspect hit a tree in Golden Gate Park.

Three people were in the car and all were taken to the hospital, two of the three now have life threatening injuries. Investigators want to determine how fast the suspects were traveling during the pursuit. Officers also say that during the pursuit they did try to pull over the suspects but they refused.

"The hit and run inspector will come out and take charge of the scene, then what he will do is research the vehicle and will take photographs and we will have our crime scene investigation personnel process the scene," said Capt. David Lazar, San Francisco police department.

Officers want to find out if the suspects were involved in any other crimes. There were some temporary road closures in the area for the accident.
