Study: reservoirs could help salmon

The construction of dams in California decades ago destroyed more than 5,000 miles of salmon habitat, but a new study suggests that those reservoirs could turn out to be a salmon savior.

Those dams store cold water, which the study says will be vital to the salmon's survival as climate change is expected to warm California's rivers.

This year's commercial salmon season was canceled, due to a record low number of the fish returning to California waterways.
