Why not adopt a manatee in your mom's name? Save the Manatee Club was started so the public could participate in conservation efforts to save endangered manatees from extinction. Funds from the Adopt-A-Manatee program at www.savethemanatee.org go toward public awareness and education projects; manatee research; rescue and rehabilitation efforts; and advocacy and legal action in order to ensure better protection for manatees and their habitat.
Homemade gifts are always a big hit with mom...
If you have younger children, help them make homemade coupons for mom. Coupons like "one free day of breakfast in bed" or "one free clean bedroom" will be the most special gift a mother can get. You can either help the kids make their own or print them out from Web sites like www.kidsturncentral.com.

The Share & Care Cockayne Syndrome Network
Cockayne Syndrome is a neurodegenerative disease that robs young children of all their milestones, causes terrible tremors and ataxia and takes their lives at a very young age. There are so few cases of this disease (only about 200-300 cases worldwide), that it has been difficult to generate enough interest and funding to get anyone to research the disease. They are hosting a nationwide (6 cities) walk-a-thon this May 24 to raise money for the cause.
