Safari dinner party in your own yard

How to create the ultimate summer soiree, safari dinner:

  • Put your dining room table outside in your backyard.

  • Put two market umbrellas at either end.

  • Take mosquito netting or a sheer fabric and cover the entire table.

  • Place a lot of candles on the table. Put some in floating water. You could also have lanterns hanging on the umbrellas.

  • At dinner, serve a grilled feast and sip wine as you enjoy spending time with your friends and family.

    Chris Silva's wine tips:

  • Wine does not have to be intimidating to drink.

  • Use a simple glass that you are comfortable with.

  • Rinse the glasses out with fresh water before the party to remove any detergent or soap. It would alter the flavors in the wine.

  • You should be prepared for half a bottle of wine per person for a party

  • Generally, you shouldn't have more than eight different wines at each party.

  • Keep your white wines around the mid-40 degree range (a couple degrees less for sparkling and a couple degrees warmer for a rich Chardonnay. Keep reds in the low-60s. Heat is not a friend of red wine.

  • Pair your wines with your food.

  • Do online research about the types of wine you're serving like the vineyard, the history, the body type, etc.
