Lawmakers push for safe cosmetic surgery

Two state lawmakers are pushing for greater protection for cosmetic surgery patients, six months after Kanye West's mother died following liposuction and breast surgery.Donda West died the day after she was sent home following her five and a half hour surgery.

Most of these surgeries are performed at outpatient clinics, not hospitals.

State Senator Mark Ridley-Thomas and Assemblywoman Wilmer Amina Carter are pushing for California to require regular inspections at these facilities in an effort to improve safety.
