The accident happened just after 3:30 Friday morning. A semi was driving on I-80 when it hit a car and both landed on the eastbound I-80 Pinole Valley Road offramp. The car stayed on the offramp and the truck ended up in a parking lot.
The semi-truck was carrying empty cans of an energy drink. It was also carrying a lot of diesel fuel, some of which leaked out. Only a small amount of fuel leaked onto the ground. There is no word on when the semi-truck will be removed from the parking lot. The offramp reopened at about 9 am Friday.
The people involved in the accident are expected to live. Two were taken to the hospital and one was taken by helicopter with serious injuries.
