Oakland to vote on Caldecott upgrades

The Oakland City Council will vote next week on an agreement with Caltrans -- over building a fourth bore at the Caldecott Tunnel.

If council members approve the deal, it would remote one of the last obstacles of the project.

The agreement sets aside $8 million dollars for improvements to help ease the negative affects of the construction and the increase in traffic during the project.

The $420 million-dollar project would run two more lanes to the Highway 24 tunnel that connects Alameda and Contra Costa counties.
