A witness says the blaze broke out in the attic of a condo in a complex on Marinero Circle, not far from downtown Tiburon.
It went to three alarms before being contained.
Two apartments were badly damaged, but firefighters were on the scene quickly enough to keep the fire from spreading.
No serious injuries were reported.
The cause is under investigation.
