Two-alarm fire extinguished in Redwood City

A two-alarm fire that was reportedly burning hazardous materials in Redwood City today was put out not long after a shelter-in-place was announced, San Mateo County fire officials said.

he fire was first reported at 2810 Crocker Ave. at 3:15 p.m., according to county dispatchers. Firefighters from the Menlo Park Fire Protection District also responded to the scene.

There was no word on what kind of materials were burning but around 5 p.m. fire officials announced that the fire was controlled and residents could safely leave their homes.
