Quartus Hinton, 29, was charged with murder for the 2006 shooting in Fairfield, but the jury convicted him on a lesser charge of voluntary manslaughter.
Prosecuters argued Hinton killed 28-year-old Kaliah Harper out of jealousy, but he said it was self defense.
