Stewart was the interim CEO at the hospital since June 2007, leading a team of professionals who have provided oversight of the center's operations and finances.
Stewart has more than 25 years of experience in hospital administration. He most recently served as President and CEO of Butler Health System in Pennsylvania. That center had the best financial performance of any independent community hospital in western Pennsylvania.
Stewart said his focus at Doctors Medical Center is "collaborating with the medical staff to reinvigorate quality-focused initiatives for DMC to excel clinically.
"I am determined to make DMC the hospital of choice for our residents," Stewart said.
