Cole's death was the result of an accidental shooting, Cole's mother said.
The Defense Department announced Monday that 34-year-old Pfc. Jennifer L. Cole died Saturday in Bayji, Iraq.
Officials offered no other details about the circumstances surrounding her death, but said the cause was under investigation.
