The fire was reported at 12:09 a.m. at a restaurant at 301 E. 18th St., Hopkins said.
Firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke and flames coming from the building.
Fire crews called for additional help, but did not request a full second-alarm response. A total of six engines with 18 personnel responded to the blaze, which was extinguished by 12:50 a.m., Hopkins said.
The restaurant was locked and nobody was inside when firefighters searched the building, Hopkins said. No injuries were reported, but the structure is a total loss.
The fire appears to have started in the restaurant's kitchen, but the cause is still under investigation, Hopkins said.
