Scam targets residents of Chinatown

San Francisco police are warning people to watch out for a scam that has thus far targeted Chinatown.

Five incidents have been reported since July, four of them in the past week.

Police say scam artists have been identifying themselves as water department workers. After they get in the homes, they distract the residents and look for and take valuables.

The suspects have all shown some type of identification and carried a clipboard. Police say water department personnel only show up at customer request.
