Charlie Engle, who recently ran 4,600 miles across the Sahara, has teamed up with United Way of America, an organization that builds community outreach programs. The team set up events along the path of more than 3,000 miles.
Engle plans to run 70 miles every day, a journey that will be tracked on liveunited.org/.
Supporters can also sign up to run with Engle and help curb childhood obesity at the same Web site.
