The death is considered a homicide, and a suspect in the case, Froilan Marroquin, 31, of San Francisco, was arrested Friday in the 500 block of Capp Street in the city's Mission District, San Francisco police said today.
Police have not released a motive for the killing and have not said how San Juan, a San Francisco resident, died.
Marroquin appeared briefly in San Francisco Superior Court this morning, where he postponed his arraignment and plea entry until Wednesday morning. He listened to the proceedings through a Spanish-speaking interpreter.
Marroquin remains in custody in lieu of $1 million bail. San Juan's body was found at about noon Thursday inside a garbage bin on wheels in the building at 520 Taylor St.
