A 25-year-old man has confessed to killing his sister Friday afternoon at her Hayward home, a police lieutenant said today. Sylvia Jacqueline Ramos, 36, was found dead in the home where she lives with her husband, children and extended family, Lt. Bernie Licata said. When family members arrived at the home in the 25000 block of Donald Avenue on Friday, they found Ramos in the backyard and called 911 around 3:10 p.m. She had been shot in the head, Licata said. Ramos' brother, Jose De Jesus Delgado, was arrested at about 6:45 a.m. Saturday at the Hayward Police Department. He voluntarily went to the Police Department to give a statement and during his interview confessed to committing the crime, Licata said. Physical evidence and witness statements corroborated his confession, Licata said. Police are not releasing a motive. It was the city's sixth homicide. Anyone with information regarding the case is asked to call Inspector J.P. Guimaraes at (510) 293-7034.
