At about 5:45 p.m., officers received a report of a major-injury collision in the 700 block of First Street. Officers found a motorcyclist on the pavement.
The motorcycle driver was traveling westbound on First Street when another motorist attempted to turn left from a right-turn only lane, allegedly causing the collision with the motorcyclist.
The motorcyclist was taken by air ambulance to a local trauma center, Gilroy police reported. The other motorist was not injured.
Driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the collision, according to the Police Department.
