Crews will start work in San Mateo on the northbound side of the highway between Third and Peninsula avenues from noon to 4 a.m.
From 1 a.m. to 5 a.m. on Wednesday, crews will work on the southbound side of the highway between Broadway and Poplar avenues. Detours will be made accordingly.
The construction is part of the demolition of the south side of the Peninsula Overcrossing, part of a lane-widening project.
