Keeping your kids safe on Halloween

Halloween safety tips:

  • Look for and use costumes that are fire-proof, reflective and have a good line of site.
  • Light pumpkins with glow sticks so that costumes do not catch on fire.
  • Check props for sharp edges or points that could cause injury.
  • Instead of carving a pumpkin as a family (with a sharp knife), consider painting the pumpkin and roasting seeds afterwards.
  • Review street safety and stranger rules with kids before leaving the home. (Walk on sidewalks, not streets.)
  • For older children who trick-or-treat without an adult, plan routine with parents.
