Court selects new judge in San Mateo Co.

SAN MATEO, CA

Judge Stephen Hall and Judge Beth Labson Freeman were elected by their colleagues to serve as the presiding judge and assistant presiding judge, respectively, starting in January 2009.

Hall is a graduate of Santa Clara School of Law and Stanford University and first served as a police officer and deputy district attorney before being appointed to the bench in 1997.

Hall is an "outstanding asset to the court," outgoing Presiding Judge Robert Foiles said in a prepared statement. "Not only is he an exceptional trial judge, but his administrative skills and knowledge of court operations make him an excellent choice as presiding judge."
