Residents from San Jose to Windsor won't be able to use their fireplaces or wood stoves when the air quality poses a greater health risk, typically about 20 nights each winter.
If a wood-burning fire is your only source of heat, you'll be exempt from the new regulation.
But, residents who ignore the ban could face a fine of up to $1000.
