AC Transit bus strikes woman in Richmond

RICHMOND, CA

The CHP received a call reporting the incident at about 6:20 a.m. near the intersection of Chesley Avenue and Filbert Street in unincorporated North Richmond.

The bus driver, a 48-year-old woman, was either not paying attention or was distracted by something when she allowed the bus to roll forward, striking the pedestrian as she was attempting to put her bike on the rack, Morgan said.

The woman was taken to the Kaiser Permanente Richmond Medical Center for treatment of minor-to-moderate injuries.

CHP officers were at the hospital this morning talking to the patient, Morgan said.

The accident is still under investigation, but there were no signs that the bus driver was intoxicated, Morgan said.
