Irish political leader Gerry Adams, president of the political party Sinn Fein, will speak at two events in San Francisco today.

Adams will attend a news conference on Treasure Island at 3:45 p.m. and will speak a fundraiser at the Sir Francis Drake Hotel at 7:30 p.m.

Adams is visiting the city to brief media, the community and supporters of Sinn Fein on the Irish peace process, said Regina Costa, a spokeswoman for the events.

The afternoon news conference will be held at Treasure Island's Gaelic Athletic Association fields.

Costa said the fields are being constructed with voluntary labor from the local Irish community to bring Gaelic sports to the Bay Area.
