Cop car of the future revealed

SAN JOSE, CA

Georgia custom car maker Carbon Motors' says the E-7 prototype was built after consulting with some 2,000 police officers nationwide. Standard equipment includes a computer linked license plate scanner, and bomb detectors.

A vehicle that incorporates all the technology that law enforcement uses today much like you would do a fighter aircraft or a helicopter," Carbon Motors spokesperson Stacy Stephens said. "You build around an operator and you build that cockpit around them to provide them with a much safer environment and one that will be more efficient for them for use in the field."

The E-7 even has a "green" bio diesel engine. The car is expected to hit the market by 2012.
