A power outage late this morning affected approximately 8,900 Pacific Gas and Electric Co. customers in San Francisco, a utility spokesman said.

The outage, reported around 11:30 a.m., impacted customers in the city's Russian Hill, Chinatown, North Beach and Fisherman's Wharf areas, PG&E spokesman Joe Molica said.

Shortly before 12:30 p.m., crews managed to restore power to all but 450 customers in the Leavenworth Street area, Molica said.

"We are currently working to restore those last remaining customers as well," he said.
