New York-based American Express took the top overall spot again this year in the survey conducted by the Ponemon Institute.
San Jose-based Ebay jumped from sixth place to second this year.
Other Bay Area Companies in the survey include number six Hewlett Packard, number eight Apple and number ten Charles Schwab.
Yahoo and facebook took spots 14 and 15.
Google dropped out of the top 20.
