Engineering company maps solar potential

SAN FRANCISCO

CH2M Hill, an engineering company, is joining with the Department of Energy to provide internet solar maps of 25 American cities.

They've just finished mapping San Francisco. Residents in the city can enter their address to measure their home's solar potential.

They can see how much electricity would be produced, the savings on their utility bill, even the amount of carbon that can be avoided by shifting to solar.

The map also estimates what it would cost to convert to solar, with government incentives factored in.
