How to hang the perfect picture or mirror:

Patch holes:
If there are holes in the wall, cover them first.

  1. Get a putty knife and scrape away excess paint on wall near holes.
  2. Use a spackle compound to fill in holes, because it will dry quickly and it's easy to use.
  3. Spread spackle over holes and even with a spatula.
  4. It will take two coats of spackle to fill holes evenly and thoroughly. Wait an hour before applying second layer.
Hanging pictures or a mirror:
  1. You can avoid making unnecessary holes by using a zip-it to hang pictures or mirrors.
  2. If you have an existing hole, you can use the zip-it to hang a picture in the hole already made to help avoid making another hole.
  3. Drill the zip-it directly into the wall and then put in a screw . 1 inch zip-it will hold 50 lbs. of weight, even if you're not in a stud.
  4. Use a stud finder if you have one. If not, visit your local hardware store and buy an inexpensive one.
  5. Hold the stud finder against the wall and it will let you know when you've reached a stud.
