The boat ran aground around 9 a.m. and began listing badly to the side and taking on water.

A man on board radioed the Coast Guard for help, and a crew was training not far away came to his rescue

"Our pilots and mechanics were onboard, they do hoisting procedures on small boats, so they were able to utilize that training today, they arrived on scene, located the gentlemen, and lowered a basket and were able to recover him safely," Coast Guard Lt. Commander Eric Smith said.

The man was examined by emergency personnel and was fine.

It will now be the boat owner's responsibility to have the vessel removed from the estuary.
