Stabbing victim under police guard

Police Chief Steve Freitas said 35-year-old Jorge Ruiz of Windsor was stabbed once in the upper torso and once in the right hand around 9:30 a.m. Ruiz said the suspect stabbed him from behind.

A friend took Ruiz to Healdsburg Hospital before Ruiz was transferred to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital where he is in guarded condition, Freitas said.

Ruiz has not been able to provide further details, Freitas said. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening, Freitas said.

The suspect has not been identified and the stabbing is under investigation, Freitas said. Police have not recovered a weapon.
