Matt Peterson of San Francisco and Kristy Gough of San Leandro were honored Sunday with a memorial lap at the Menlo Park Grand Prix.
The two died after being hit by a Santa Clara County sheriff's deputy while riding along on Stevens Canyon road above Cupertino.
"It's been a tough year. But, we're coming together today and we want to celebrate the life of Matt and Kristy, and we're hoping that the time for mourning is over and the time for feeling the positive effects of their life is now," said teammate Anthony Borba.
Two memorial rides are planned for Monday morning, the anniversary of the fatal accident, including one up San Bruno Mountain at sunrise.
