Shannon Bradley Moore, 37, has been charged with murder with an enhancement for the use of a knife, Butts said.

Raymond Casso was inside the post office at 6150 Center St. at about 11 a.m. when Moore allegedly stabbed him multiple times in the face and neck, investigators said.

According to Butts, investigators haven't established a motive for the killing.

Casso's friends and family described him as a loving, generous man who was devoted to his family and often volunteered in the community. He was a member of the Concord/Clayton Valley Sunrise Rotary Club and a bell ringer for the Salvation Army during the Christmas season.

"He was a very jovial man," longtime friend and fellow Rotary Club member Chuck Graham said. "He just enjoyed life."

Casso, who had lived in Clayton for the past 19 years, left behind his wife JoAnn of 47 years, three children and four grandchildren.

A trust fund has been set up for Casso's family at the Washington Mutual Bank in Concord. The account number is: 4230200505.

Moore was scheduled to be arraigned this afternoon in Contra Costa County Superior Court in Martinez.
