SF to avoid mandatory water rationing

It looks like all the rain in February will keep San Franciscans from facing mandatory water rationing this summer.

That's according to a spokesman for the Public Utilities Commission. He says more than six inches of rain fell in February - that combined with run-off from the Sierra snowpack has brought the Hetch Hetchy Reservoir to 70 percent of capacity.

Residents of San Francisco, however, are being asked to "voluntarily" reduce their water usage by ten percent.
