2.6 quake strikes near West Marin

The U.S. Geological Survey is reporting an earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 2.6 struck Saturday night just offshore from Point Reyes in the west Marin County national park.

According to the USGS, the earthquake struck at 11 p.m. and had a depth of about 3 miles.

The epicenter was preliminarily reported by the USGS to be about 6 miles north of Point Reyes and about 9 miles west of the coastal community of Inverness.
