New red light cameras were installed this morning at the intersection of 82 Avenue and International Boulevard.

For the next 30 days, drivers who run the red light will be sent warning notices. After that, every red light runner can expect a ticket.

This is the third Oakland intersection to get a red light camera. Eventually, 20 intersections in Oakland will have them.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety estimates running red lights causes about 260,000 accidents every year.
