Starting July 1st, Delta will begin charging a $50 fee to check a second bag.

This is the first MAJOR U.S. airline to charge for checked bags on international flights.

Delta, which already charges for checked bags on domestic flights, expects the new fee to bring in $100 million annually.

The airline says the global recession made the new fee necessary.
