Crouching spider says goodbye to SF

The crouching spider has stood along the Embarcadero, near the foot of Mission Street, since the fall of 2007.

Artist Louise Bourgeois' spider was initially supposed to be on display here for only eight months, and that stretched into almost a year-and-a-half thanks to its popularity.

The spider will be part of a private collector in Texas.
