Seventy historic race cars gathered on San Francisco's Nob Hill on Monday ready to take part in the 19th annual California Mille (mille is Latin for a thousand.)
The cars will spend four days on the road, traveling over Mount Hamilton, down to Hearst Castle, back north through the gold country and eventually ending in Sausalito.
The event draws its inspiration from Italy's famed Mille Miglia Italy Race, a road race that took place from 1927 to 1957.
