Man shot to death in Richmond

The fatal shooting was reported at about 11:15 p.m. in the 1300 block of Cherry Street, according to Gormley.

Arriving officers found a man who had been shot in a vehicle, and he was pronounced dead at the scene, Gormley said.

Investigators have detained a man who is a person of interest in connection with the shooting, according to Gormley, who said the man was questioned early this morning.

Richmond police are also investigating two other shootings that occurred in the city earlier Monday night.

The first shooting was reported at 9:05 p.m. near the intersection of 24th Street and Broadway, Gormley said.

A 19-year-old man was driving when he was shot in the head, according to Gormley, who said the victim is in serious but stable condition at a local hospital.

Another shooting was reported at about 10:10 p.m. in the 600 block of Ohio Avenue.

Arriving officers found shell casings at the scene, and minutes later received reports that a 45-year-old woman had arrived at a local hospital with a gunshot wound to the leg, Gormley said.

The woman is in stable condition, he said.

No arrests have been made and no suspect information is immediately available in connection with either the 9:05 p.m. or 10:10 p.m. shooting, according to Gormley.
