The girls, ages 11 and 14, were approached by a man in a white Ford Explorer or Jeep Cherokee at about 9:15 a.m. on Hanna Street between Third and Fourth streets, police said. The suspect, a man in his mid to late 20s with a shaved head and a white tank top, drove by the girls several times, smiled at them and gave them a peace sign.

When the older sister arrived at Brownell Middle School, the younger girl continued to El Roble Elementary School and was approached by the man at least two more times, police said.

According to police, the suspect said to the girl, "Don't run, I'm not going to hurt you."

The suspect then drove away but returned and went by the girl once more before leaving the area, according to police.

Police have notified schools and are urging parents to speak with their children about safety.
