An off-duty officer called police to his home near Dunne Avenue and Saddleback Drive around 6 p.m. because he said someone forced their way in through the back window and stole the 40 caliber Glock handgun with a Streamlight tactical light attached.

Police believe the suspect broke into the home between 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. and did not ransack, but did have to look for the gun, police Commander Joe Sampson said.

The gun was in some sort of locked drawer, Sampson said.

Nothing else appeared to have been stolen, he said.

Anyone with information regarding the burglary is asked to call Detective Howard at the Police Department at (408) 779-2101.
