Grass fire extinguished near Rossmoor

Firefighters have extinguished a vegetation fire that burned up a hillside near Rossmoor in Walnut Creek this morning, Contra Costa County Fire Protection District spokeswoman Emily Hopkins said.

The fire was reported at 8:08 a.m. at 2400 Golden Rain Road across from a shopping center, Hopkins said.

Because it is wildfire season, firefighters responded with a full wildland response, which included five engines, Hopkins said.

The blazed was knocked down at 8:28 a.m., but firefighters were expected to remain in the area to make sure no hot spots re-ignited.
