No records broken in Escape From Alcatraz

The athletes broke no records this year -- partly because swimmers faced a strong current. The triathlon is considered one of the most difficult in the world. Besides the swim from Alcatraz, the 2,000 athletes also ran eight miles and bicycled another 18.

"You don't have any other race where you can escape from The Rock, Alcatraz Island, jump into the bay, ride the hills of San Francisco and then you have an iconic setting with Baker Beach and the sand ladder," said three-time champion Andy Potts.

Potts finished first with a time of two-hours and seven-minutes in his third Alcatraz championship.
