SF police activity prompts BART delays

BART trains are back on time after a police investigation on the tracks near a station in San Francisco this morning caused systemwide delays in train service, a BART dispatcher said.

San Francisco police were conducting an investigation and searching for evidence on the tracks by the 16th Street Mission station, causing BART to turn off power to the tracks at about 7:20 a.m., BART spokesman Linton Johnson said.

Trains were running through the area again at about 7:40 a.m. and BART trains were back on their regular schedule as of 9:45 a.m. after experiencing residual systemwide delays of about 20 minutes during the morning commute.
