CHP officers and hazardous materials workers responded to northbound Highway 880 just north of Mowry Avenue around 6:35 a.m., where the tanker truck had stopped on the shoulder and was leaking the fuel, Serena said.
The fuel was spilling near a drainage waterway, but Serena said the leak had been "plugged" at 8:15 a.m. and appeared to stay out of the canal.
